and the software is provided on licence:
You are free to use and make as many copies of this program as you

2. REGISTRATION
======================================================================
A new registration scheme now applies to all OZNET software.
Regardless of any previous registration, this program now requires
individual installation for each BBS using it.
There is still NO fee involved at all. DO NOT send any money!
Registration simply involves obtaining from me a CRC code which
matches your BBS name. You may do this at any of the seven OZNET
registration centres:
Kangaroo Korner 302/001 Stephen de Plater
The Black Hole 302/003 Ken Thompson
TSUNAMI! Catch the Wave *TEMPDN Chet Wilkinson
Control Systems 071/001 Ed Cavender
Gidget's Domain 081/005 Jack Hazel
Fuzzy Logic 050/018 Phill Piddell
The Gathering Place 093/000 Joe Tellup
If you are in the GTPN nodelist then you will be able to register
direct online at any of those centres or via mail in the correct form
to OZRobot at any of those centres. See the included OZRobot document
for details. If you are not in the GTPN net you will need to apply
via private netmail or message to Sysop at any of the centres.
Whatever way you do it you will need to supply the full (case
sensitive) name to which you want the program registered.
You will also need to obtain the OZINSTAL program which performs the
actual installation. OZINSTAL is not included in this archive. You
should look for OZINST11.ZIP.
PLEASE NOTE: This program will run only in test mode (see below) until
your registration key is installed.

3. PURPOSE
======================================================================
(Or what does this thing do anyway?)
NOKILL is a companion program for GT Power BBS Systems.
>> page 2 <<
NOKILL: v1.01 by Stephen de Plater
June 24, 1990 GT Power Net: 302/1
It is designed to walk through your message areas and set all messages
to NoKill status. People therefore cannot simply delete messages out
of conferences and so break the thread for others.
As an alternative, NOKILL can run in inverted mode and remove the
NoKill status from every message.
The scope of the program can be restricted to a small set of message
areas (even to a single area if you like), or by default it can cover
your entire GTMDIR.BBS.
You may also prevent messages which are marked Private from being
reassigned to NoKill status, although this is not the default.
======================================================================
4. USAGE
======================================================================
To use NOKILL:
1. Install NOKILL.EXE in your DOS path.
2. The program runs in batch mode only. (That means that it does
not stop and ask you whether or not to change anything). It is
designed to be run in regular system housekeeping, perhaps in a
midnight batch file, or more appropriately, at the end of the
regular mail run, following MDIST.
3. If you do run this program, and you also run DELMSG then remember
that by default DELMSG will NOT delete any message which is
marked NoKill. This could well mean that NOKILL prevents DELMSG
from doing anything at all! You will need to watch for it.

5. COMMAND LINE PARAMETERS
======================================================================
NOKILL takes four optional command line parameters as follows:
1. /N Test mode. In this mode, NO message headers will be changed
at all, but the program will run and show which messages
would have been adjusted were test mode not in force. You
can use this mode to try the program and see what
combination of parameters gives you optimum results for your
system.
NOTE: Until registration is completed, the program will ONLY
run in test mode, whether or not this parameter has been
selected.
2. /A Use a file other than the GTMDIR.BBS for the list of mail
areas subject to adjusting. The filename must follow
immediately (no spaces) after the /A parameter. i.e.: if you
wanted to use the file NONECHO.BBS in place of GTMDIR.BBS
then the parameter would be "/ANONECHO.BBS". In all cases
the file must be in the GTPATH directory.
3. /I Invert Mode. When this mode is selected, NOKILL runs
backwards! That is, the NoKill status is REMOVED from
messages instead of being added.
4. /P NotPriv mode. Selecting this mode ON prevents message which
are marked Private being changed to NoKill status (which
would make them public!)
Command line parameters may be given in either upper or lower case,
and in any order. The command line parameter switch character may be
either "/" or "-" (i.e.: "/T" is the same as "-t").
The parameters must not be run together (i.e.: "/n /aMINE.TXT" is
fine, but "/n/aMINE.TXT" is wrong!)

6. DISCLAIMER
======================================================================
Q: What kind of guarantee comes with this software?
A: *** ABSOLUTELY NONE!!! ***
If you break it you get to keep both pieces.
I take no responsibility at all for what this software may do on any
computer other than my own. If you use it you do so at your own risk.
All that I am prepared to say about it is that it works fine here (and
I can see no good reason why it should not also work fine everywhere
else also -- but ....)
By using this program you accept these conditions.
======================================================================
7. ENJOY!
======================================================================
At least, I hope you do!
